Deciding Whether or Not to Remove Moles

All of us have moles, but most of us are lucky enough to have the small, flat and almost unnoticeable kind. If you're not that lucky however, you're bound to have asked yourself whether or not you should just remove the mole. This is a decision that you should not take lightly. Although there are options that you can choose between, the fact of the matter is that you still should think a bit about the decision that you're about to make.

To be completely honest, the decision about whether or not you should remove your moles is ultimately going to be based on the type, size, and shape of the mole itself. Let's face it, it would be rather frivolous and silly to remove every single small, flat, and almost unnoticeable mole on your body - right?

As such, the size and shape of the mole is definitely part of the problem. Most people who opt to remove moles do so because their moles are large, protruding, or hairy. Quite possibly it could even be all three of those put together. One of the first things that you're going to want to look at is the size of your mole - because it is going to affect the removal.

Essentially, moles are conventionally surgically removed or 'cut out' for lack of a better word. What this means is that if your mole is rather large, you're going to be left with a fairly large open wound that may even require stitches and may leave a scar. So before you make your decision you should ask yourself whether you're willing to go through that.

If not, then you may want to pursue other methods of removing moles. There are various 'alternative' treatments for moles that involve relatively less intrusive procedures. It might be a good idea to try some of those first before you actually decide to remove your mole in the conventional fashion. Of course, these alternative treatments are not guaranteed to succeed - but what's the harm in trying, right?

At the end of the day, the decision that you're making essentially boils down to whether or not your mole is adversely affecting you. Although we might not like to think so, the truth is that for many of us the presence of an ugly, large and hairy mole protruding from our skin is definitely going to hit our self confidence and affect our self esteem.

If so, it might be a good idea to be rid of the problem once and for all!
